Surface Mining 2012 will be held between 10 - 12 September 2012. The main focus of the Conference is to review advances and best practice in surface mining. How do we mine faster, deeper, steeper and cheaper whilst maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards. Industry operators, contractors and suppliers are encouraged to share the challenges being faced, new trends being implemented, tools being used and value adding systems being applied to unlock mineral potential in the current commodity cycle.

The objective of Surface Mining 2012 is to provide a practical forum to showcase the direction in which the industry needs to move in order to unlock current and future mineral potential. Input from those involved in surface mining across the full spectrum of commodity types is actively sought to compliment the Conference agenda. The conference will also place importance in reviewing safety and health topics the key parameters influencing sustainability, social responsibility and the environment.

The Conference is being organised by The Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and papers are invited for the Conference.
