BACKGROUND
Ore heterogeneity and metallurgical complexity continue to rise, while sustainability occupies an ever-prominent role. Geometallurgy offers a refined, multidisciplinary pathway to improve the value of ore deposits.
Future-Ready Geometallurgy examines strategies to generate trustworthy data through the steady application of machine learning, novel sensors, digital twins, and Industry 4.0 technologies in mining. Reliance on dependable data and innovative tools empowers the industry to make more timely and discerning decisions for mine planning and metallurgical plant optimisation.
Following the success of past SAIMM Geometallurgy conferences, the third conference in this series provides a platform to explore the latest progress in geometallurgy and to celebrate the success of its integration into the mining value chain.
Keynote speakers
Wendy Ware
Geomet Advisor & Business Development Manager, Datarock, Australia
Wendy Ware is a geoscientist and systems thinker with over 20 years of experience in the mining industry. Currently at Datarock, she works across geoscience and business development, helping mining companies make better, faster decisions through integrated, data-informed geomet workflows. Her work spans the full mining value chain—from exploration and design through to operations and closure—and focuses on turning rock data into timely insight. Wendy has led multi-disciplinary teams across a wide range of commodities and regions, always with an eye on practical outcomes that support operational and strategic decisions. In her keynote, Wendy challenges traditional views of geometallurgy, proposing a shift toward connected systems that are decision-ready by default—supporting an industry under growing pressure to deliver value with speed, clarity, and confidence.
Adam Johnston
Chief Metallurgist, Transmin Metallurgical Consultants
Graduate of Western Australian School of Mines with extensive experience in plant audits, process optimization, and testwork supervision across global operations. A Fellow of AusIMM and Chartered Professional (Metallurgy), with over 30 years of expertise in metallurgical process engineering and consulting. As Chief Metallurgist for Transmin Metallurgical Consultants in the UK and Peru, led numerous world-class projects including Mina Justa and Constancia. Creator of the industry-leading Cancha geometallurgy software.

The Geometallurgy Conference Organising Committee is inviting you to submit an abstract for presentation at the Geometallurgy 2025 Conference.

Submission process
Abstracts will be subject to peer review, the committee will decide whether to accept or decline the submissions. Relevance to the conference theme, accuracy and uniqueness of ideas, contribution significance, and presentation quality are among the selection factors. Download abstract submission template
Authors will be notified in writing of the acceptance of their abstract. Once accepted the author can submit an extended abstract for review. Download extended abstract submission guidelines

- All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings and presented during technical sessions.
- All presenting authors are required to register and pay for conference attendance prior to publication in the conference proceedings.
