Company and Job Title:
I am an Engineer within the Pyrometallurgy Division at Mintek.
What contribution do you see yourself making to the Young Professionals Council and the SAIMM?:
Participating in the activities of the SAIMM and the YPC would provide me with an opportunity to assist in the professional development of young individuals, particularly females, who may be interested in pursuing a career in the mining and metallurgical industry. I would use my role to change the narrative around female representation in the industry and help foster a diverse environment. Additionally, I would use my role to encourage knowledge transfer and bridging the gap between young and seasoned professionals.
Another aspect that I care deeply about is environmental conservation. I believe that mining and metallurgy play an integral role in the growth and evolution of modern society and would therefore use my role as part of the organization to inspire innovative thinking and drive a positive change in our industry. Particularly, change that aligns advancement of the industry with environmental conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources.
